As the United States prepares to observe Independence Day, InterFaith Works of Central New York invites the public, organizations and faith communities to participate in its Spirit of America: Liberty, Diversity, Dignity project to celebrate the diversity of our country. The project will kick off the weekend of Friday, June 30 through Sunday, July 2; however, this project was such a success that we’re extending it until November so organizations have a chance to participate.

As part of the Spirit of America project, InterFaith Works will make available the following resources:

  • A New American (former refugee) to speak to your organization about his/her personal experiences as a refugee and a New American. A member of InterFaith Works’ staff, Board of Directors or Round Table of Faith Leaders will accompany the New American.
  • Resource packet that include items that may be used to help promote the project. These items include our Spirit of America webpage on our InterFaith Works’ website and Facebook Event Page links, a video link of two young refugees telling their personal stories, Interfaith Prayer Service for Refugees and a fact sheet about InterFaith Works and its refugee resettlement program.
  • Yard sign that reads Spirit of America: Liberty, Diversity, Dignity. (Cost to cover production costs: $15.)
  • Banner (6 feet long x 3 feet tall) that reads Spirit of America: Liberty, Diversity, Dignity to display on the interior or exterior of your building. (Cost to cover production costs: $70.)

Yard signs and banners may be purchased individually.

For more information about the Spirit of America project, please contact the Rev. Gracious Moyo, director of interfaith initiatives, at gmoyo@interfaithworkscny.org or call 315-449-3552, ext. 111.
