Seeds of Peace
Syracuse Seeds of Peace is a collaborative project initiated with the support of Say Yes to Education, Inc., and sustained through a partnership between InterFaith Works, the Syracuse City School District, Onondaga County, and the Seeds of Peace organization.
Seeds of Peace is an international nonprofit that works with teenagers around the world to bridge conflict and differences and create more just and inclusive societies. All of its programs bring teenagers together from all backgrounds, identities, and belief systems to build their own unique community, engage in dialogue across lines of difference, and learn leadership and action-taking skills they can take forward to mobilize change back home.
More than 120 Syracuse City School District students have gone to Otisfield, Maine, to attend the Seeds of Peace Camp, a 2-week summer program. While there, teens will have the opportunity to live with and learn from other high-schoolers from different backgrounds, experiences, and identities from your own as you take part in camp activities, dialogue, and action-oriented learning. These camp participants, called “Seeds,” then support Syracuse Seeds of Peace clubs in each of the five Syracuse high schools to develop peace-building projects in their schools, in partnership with other schools, and in the community.
Summer 2024 brings 2 opportunities to participate: The Syracuse Seeds of Peace Leadership Institute, and the Seeds of Peace International camp in New Mexico. Read below for more:
