InterFaith Works is monitoring developments carefully and stands ready to welcome refugees from Ukraine and other places where people have suffered from war, terrorism, ethnic cleansing, and environmental devastation, as we have done for the last 40 years.
According to the United Nations, more than 4 million people have fled from Ukraine into neighboring countries, and we must be ready to respond to this overwhelming humanitarian crisis. President Biden declared that the United States will commit to welcoming 100,000 refugees from Ukraine to the United States. We are not sure when they will arrive, but InterFaith Works is ready to support them when they do.
We have established a special fund for the unmet needs of Ukrainians who will eventually come. Your gift will help people secure the essentials they need for starting their new lives. These gifts will help provide needed housing, transportation, food and clothing for Ukrainian refugees in our community. Everything you give to this special effort will be dedicated to serving and supporting the Ukrainian families.

Symphoria: Benefit Concert for Ukraine

When: Saturday, April 23
Time: 7:30 pm
Where: Church of the Most Holy Rosary

Symphoria, The Orchestra of Central New York, will present a benefit concert for Ukrainian refugee resettlement in Central New York. Church choirs from Syracuse’s Ukrainian community will join Symphoria on stage in a program celebrating music written by Ukrainian composers. Symphoria’s acting concertmaster, Sonya Stith Williams, will be the featured violin soloist in Legende by composer Heinryk Wieniawski.
InterFaith Works of Central New York will receive all donations collected as part of this concert event to support Ukrainian refugee resettlement in CNY. Donations to InterFaith Works will be used to strengthen our ability to be ready to serve refugees coming out of the Ukraine, and a special fund will be established to provide for the unmet needs of the families that will come. Symphoria’s presentation of this benefit is made possible with support from Northwestern Mutual of Syracuse.
In-person or livestreamed tickets are free and are now available to reserve.

Fund Our Van

InterFaith Works also has an important capacity-building need at this time. Our passenger van needs to be replaced so that we can pick up refugees at the airport, help them get to medical and government appointments, drive them to their first jobs, and more. If you can help, it will not only equip us to be ready for our friends from Ukraine, but also help us with the immediate needs of our current clients. You can donate to our new van by clicking on the “Fund Our Van” button below.
